Spendable cash flow (or spendable for short) is money designated for day-to-day expenses. It combines the traditional categories of wants, variable and discretionary expenses into one simple number so that you always know what is safe to spend.

Spendable tips

Using your spendable should feel easy; however, it's normal for things to take some getting used to. Here are a few tips to help you maintain your spendable:

Create a new account

Set-up a new spendable account that is separate from your committed expenses.

Set-up an automated transfer

Automate a weekly transfer of your spendable recommended by Winton to your spendable account.

Double-check your expenses

Watch out for any committed expenses accidentally coming out of your spendable account. It's easy to forget and use your spendable account to pay for your fuel at the gas station, but it will reduce your balance and could make you feel like you don't have enough money to get through the week. 😔

Say no to credit cards

Never use a credit card for spendable expenses! Large purchases (like flights, furniture, etc.) that you typically use credit for are considered short-term goals and kept separate from your spendable.

Money found is calculated using your income, spendable and committed cash flow, which is on the Home page of your Winton account.

Money found = income - spendable - committed expenses

Every dollar of your money found should have a job, which will help you avoid overspending and encourage you to succeed with your spendable.

Putting your money found to work

How you allocate your money found depends on how much was found by Winton. Here are some general guidelines on how to use your money found:

Less than $300

Divide money found between a short-term goal and emergency savings.

Between $300-$600

Allocate a minimum of $150 towards both short-term goals and emergency savings, and then put the rest toward future savings.

Greater than $600

Allocate a minimum of $200 towards both short-term goals and emergency savings and then divide the rest between future savings and debt repayment.

Inviting a client to Winton

Inviting a new client to Winton from CacheFlo Advise

A household's Engage page is where you send client engagement emails. The first email doubles as the initial point of contact, as well as an invite to Winton.

Step 1 (optional).

Edit the subject line of your email.

Step 2 (optional).

Personalize the email by including any information that may be helpful to your client, and by updating your email signature.

Step 3.

In the Send To dropdown, select your client's email address. You can also select yourself if you want a copy of the email.

|| Note: The Get started button will not work if you send a copy to yourself, so do not forward it to your client.

Step 4.

Press send! 🎉

Save your template, as your modified client engagement email will be accessible across all of your households.

Installing Winton on iOS

Adding Winton to your iOS device's home screen

Winton can be added to an iOS device from your Safari browser. Currently, Winton is available by invite-only from your advisor or institution, and unavailable to download directly from the App Store.

Step 1.

On your iOS device, open your Safari browser and navigate to heywinton.app.

Step 2.

Press the Share button in your browser.

Step 3.

Scroll down and press Add to Home Screen.

Step 4.

Keep the name Winton, and press Done next to the text keyboard or Add in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 5.

Done! A Winton icon should appear on your home screen on your device. You can now open Winton from your home screen by selecting the icon and entering your email and password to log in.

The Home page is where all of your households are organized in a table. At a glance, the screens below show you what options and features are available.

Table organization

Details of each household are organized as full name, spendable (per month), money found (per month) and status:

Full name - The first and last name of the primary household member, as well as the email address. Full name sorts by the first name, then the last name, then the email address based on availability.

|| Note: First and last name are not required fields when creating a household. Email address is the minimum requirement for creating a household.

Spendable - Monthly spendable recommended to a household by Winton based on their financial information in their Winton account. A household status other than Accepted or Active will give a spendable of Unknown.

Money found - Monthly money found recommended to a household by Winton based on their financial information in their Winton account. A household status other than Accepted or Active will give a money found of Unknown.
